GLIMPSES OF INNOCENCE - EL SALVADOR

This is a one-month photographic project that delves into the lives of children living in San Salvador, El Salvador, amidst the pervasive influence

of criminal gangs known as “Maras.” This project was undertaken while working with the CINDE organization, a non-profit dedicated to

improving the lives of vulnerable children and families in the region.

The primary focus of this project is to capture the raw emotions and expressions in the eyes of these young children, who represent the

foundation of a society struggling under the weight of gang violence and crime. Through a series of intimate portraits and candid shots, the

project aims to shed light on the resilience, hope, and vulnerability that coexist within these young souls.

In addition to the powerful imagery, the project will also include a series of interviews and stories from the children themselves, as well as their

families and community members. These narratives will provide a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by these children and the impact

of the Maras on their daily lives.

By documenting the lives of these children,

“Glimpses of Innocence” seeks to raise awareness about the harsh realities faced by many in San

Salvador and to inspire action towards creating a safer and more nurturing environment for the future generations. The project also aims to

humanize the issue of gang violence, moving beyond the statistics and headlines to reveal the true faces of those affected by this ongoing crisis.

“Glimpses of Innocence” is a testament to the strength and spirit of the children of San Salvador, who, despite the adversity they

face, continue to dream, learn, and grow. Through their eyes, we are reminded of the potential for change and the importance of nurturing a

brighter future for all.
